Welcome to the Winter School
A warm welcome to our winter school; a space to collect some CCE's, get back into the virtual classroom, and expect the usual Coaching Development blend of interactive, experiential learning and development, in-depth exploration along-side your peers, and the opportunity to acquire further skills to build your practice.
If it's time for re-accreditation, then join us as we take an in-depth look at the Core Competency framework through different eyes. This will also serve you if you are accrediting for the first time at ACC or PCC level, and heading for the CKA assessment.
On day 2 Colin facilitates as you work with 'tools' and 'techniques', exploring above and beyond the competency framework in order to offer further options for working with your clients.
Competencies Revisited - November 7th
This one-day deep dive into the competencies is for you if you want to remind yourself of the framework which coaching rests on, and to do some thinking about how the competencies might be evidenced at different levels.
Using the updated framework, you will differentiate between attitudes, approaches and verbal behaviours. You will then spend time on the less obvious competencies and reflect on how they inform your practice, as well as thinking about how the more immediate verbal behaviours show up in your coaching.
You will also spend some time thinking about the philosophy and values which underlie this framework, and relate these to your definition of coaching.
Coaching Techniques - November 8th
The ICF’s competency framework is essentially about attitudes, practices and verbal behaviours. On occasion the coach might choose to use a model, framework or a technique to help the client discover, clarify or move forwards.
Three examples of these in the competency framework are ‘explore beyond current thinking’, ‘reframing perspectives’ and using your own process to potentially ‘create new learning’ for the client. We will explore how you might utilise these to best effect in your practice.
While the seminar offers a number of tried and tested coaching interventions, and points you at further resources, it also gives you the opportunity to use your own creativity and to think about how you would language the approaches and interventions you develop.
Who is this for?
The winter school is open to all coaches. These sessions are practical, with a focus on developing and refining skillsets, in addition to offering the opportunity to engage with others so as to create connection, clarity, choice and forward action.
You are welcome to join us for day 1, day 2, or both!
