Developing Mastery (Part II Diploma in Coaching)

Coaching Development’s Developing Mastery course forms Part ll of the Diploma in Coaching and is open to graduates of Coaching Development’s Professional Coaching Skills (Part I of the Diploma in Coaching).

Developing Mastery is a distance-learning programme offering facilitated skills development, primarily on a 1-1 basis.

It provides rigorous continuing professional development, enabling participants to deepen and develop their coaching skills. The course challenges the student to coach consistently at PCC standard and supports the development of reflective, informed and ethical professional coaching.

The Programme

Participants will benefit from:

  • Mentor coaching focusing on the core coaching competencies at PCC level;
  • Formal observation providing clean, objective, practical feedback;
  • Self-managing skills development practice groups;
  • A comprehensive practical and theoretical assessment process.

Successful completion of the full Diploma in Coaching (Part I Professional Coaching Skills and Part II Developing Mastery) enables graduates to apply for an ICF credential at ACCi or PCCii level via the ACTPiii route. (The level of credential participants can apply for depends on the number of client coaching hours completed – 100 and 500 hours respectively.)

Key Elements

  1. 6 x 1 hour 1-1 mentor coaching sessions working with an approved coach, focusing on developing the consistent application of core competencies at PCC level. These sessions will be based on discussion of recorded coaching.
  2. 2 x 1 hour formal observation sessions with an approved observer providing clear evaluation of, and feedback on, the demonstrated skills against the PCC standard.
  3. Self-managed peer group practice triads to further develop coaching experience and skill. Strongly recommended but not mandatory.
  4. Course tutor calls providing a forum for students to raise any questions or issues, to get support and information, and to connect with each other as a group.
  5. Maintenance of an active coaching practice in order to accumulate the minimum 100 hours’ client coaching experience required to complete the assessment process.
  6. Pre-assessment observation session to ensure that students are ready to begin the assessment process.
  7. Assessment process comprising a recorded submission, 2 written pieces and a final live examination, based on the ICF’s PCC level requirements.

Also included:

  • Two reference letters from PCC or MCC qualified coaches, attesting to the level of coaching as witnessed in the final live assessment session.
